Hi Loves, welcome back to my blog. I was on the hunt for a good primer that actually DOES SOMETHING. I have tried a couple of drugstore primers which to be honest didn’t really wow me but I have to keep using to have a sense of security that there is a barrier between my skin and makeup aside from moisturiser. Loreal is one of the leading beauty brand known for their lovely products, this prompted me to buy this primer when I saw it on the stand. I read a lot of mixed reviews on this product which I understand why. I have used it for some months now and I can confidently give it my detailed & honest review. Today, I will be reviewing the LOREAL INFALLIBLE MATTIFYING BASE, to know how I feel about this primer, keep reading.
Loreal Claim: Loreal Paris Make-up designers have developed a mattifying base that locks in shine and enhances the foundation makeup result. Never greasy. All day comfort.
- Texture: Light
- Action: Mattifies
- Use: Pre-makeup
- Oil control
How To Use: smooth onto skin working outwards for a flawless looking skin texture.
Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone crosspolymer (F.I.L. B169012/1).
Price: I bought it at Superdrug for £7.99. Loreal products are usually on sale for 3 for 2 which was when I bought it.
Packaging: it is packed in a clear tube containing 35ml of product. It has a pointed tip that dispenses minimal amount of product. I love the packaging, it is so sleek and beautiful.
Consistency & Colour: it is a clear silicone primer. It looks and feels very similar to the Maybelline baby skin primer but thicker.
Scent: it has no fragrance.
On application, it feels so smooth on the skin, slightly fills in pores and makes foundation glide through smoothly and evenly. This dry weather has made me appreciate it more as it takes care of my dry patches; foundation doesn’t cling on to or accentuate them.
This primer is amazing as a smoothing primer. IT DOESN’T MATTIFY. I don’t know why Loreal calls it a mattifying primer, its primary ingredient is dimethicone. I usually start getting oily around 2-3 hours which doesn’t really bother me.
I don’t think it prolongs my makeup wear also. I usually don’t wear makeup for more than 6 hours, my makeup does not break up or fade till I take it off myself.
It is very similar to Maybelline Baby Skin Primer. I prefer this Loreal primer. The Maybelline Baby Skin is more runny.
Verdict: I give is a score of 4/5. It doesn’t do anything Loreal says it does. I love how it makes my skin & makeup feels. I would have loved it better if it controls oil. I will be pairing it with a matte foundation during summer as I currently use it with the Loreal True Match Foundation in shade 10W (my winter foundation).
I hope you enjoy this post. Do you use this primer as well? Do you love or hate it? Please COMMENT below, LIKE, SHARE & SUBSCRIBE to my blog via E-MAIL. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
